MICWOOD™
Some purification problems are defined by the size of the molecule, not the concentration of the contaminant. When the target is a large pigment, a high-molecular-weight colour body, or a complex organic impurity in a viscous liquid and micropore-dominant carbons are under-performing at standard dose rates MICWOOD™ is the right specification.
Why wood PAC outperforms where macroporosity drives results.
MICWOOD™ is manufactured by chemical activation of pine wood using phosphoric acid a process that produces a carbon with the highest total pore volume and macropore fraction of any commercially available PAC type. Where coconut shell carbon leads in micropore density for small molecules, MICWOOD™ leads in the accessible pore volume that large molecules actually need.
The practical result: edible oil decolorisation at lower dose rates. Pharmaceutical syrup purification without the diffusion limitations that slow micropore-dominant carbons. Sugar refining with consistent colour removal that does not depend on extended contact times. The methylene blue value of 200–280 mg/g reflects this the highest of our three PAC families, and the measurement that matters most for colour removal performance.
Available in three iodine-graded variants M900, M1000, and M1100 giving you the ability to match the grade to your decolorisation target. Low moisture below 3% extends shelf stability and keeps handling clean at the dosing point. Kosher, Halal, and HACCP certified across all three variants.

Where MICWOOD™ is specified.
Specified in applications where large-molecule adsorption, high-viscosity liquid decolourisation,
and food-grade purity requirements define the grade selection.
Edible Oil Refining
Decolourisation and deodourisation of vegetable, palm, soybean, coconut, and specialty oils. Large pore volume accesses high-molecular-weight pigments that micropore-dominant alternatives miss at equivalent dose rates. Food-grade CoA per batch.
Explore applicationPharmaceutical Syrup & API Purification
Decolourisation of oral liquid medicines, pharmaceutical intermediates, and high-viscosity API solutions. Macropore structure provides faster access and higher capacity than micropore alternatives. USP and EP grades available.
Explore applicationSugar Refining & Glucose Production
Colour removal from cane sugar, glucose syrup, dextrose, and corn syrup. Removes melanoidins and large coloured impurities. Bone char replacement option — no animal-origin certification concerns.
Explore applicationAmino Acid & MSG Processing
Decolourisation and purification of MSG, amino acids, and fermentation broths where large biopolymer colour bodies are the primary challenge.
Explore applicationStarch Sugar & Maltose
Decolourisation in glucose, maltose, and isoglucose production from starch hydrolysis. Consistent colour reduction to specification across batch volumes.
